Swimming With Wild Spinner Dolphins - Big Island - Kona Hawaii

Out of all the living creatures on this planet, I would have to say that dolphins top them all for sheer fun and playfulness! These beautiful beings have a natural knack for living life to the fullest. I've been in the water with them and played a thing called "leaf game". You drop a leaf in the water, and they catch it with their one of their fins, sometimes letting it go from one fin, and catching it with another! But the most amazing thing is when they play leaf game with you. The dolphin will release the leaf, and let it float for you until you catch it. You then swim around with it on the end of your hand for a while, release it, and hand it off to your new friend one more time. Talk about intelligent!

Fun Fact: Dolphins hunt at night, and sleep during the day. The interesting thing is that they sleep while they are swimming. What they do to achieve this is to sleep with only half their brain at a time. The other half is wide awake and keeps them alert while constantly swimming along. Kind of like sleep walking - sleep swimming?
