A visit to Hawaii Volcano's National Park Jaggar Museum is the first stop to learn about the volcanos history, cultural associations and viewing opportunities.

If you have one to three hours you can take your car around Crater Rim Drive; an 11-mile road that encircles the summit caldera. The views are spectacular and you will see landscapes that range anywhere from dessert to lush tropical rain forests with ferns so big you might believe you just landed in Jurrasic Park.

And be sure not to miss the Thurston Lava Tubes, and 3.5 mile hike through the fern forest on the backside.
